shower time

this visual was sent home for our students who require prompting when completing life skills-- i laminated the visual so it can actually be hung in the shower area for the student to reference. boardmaker was also used for this visual support.

classroom exercises

this is an exercise routine created specifically for our students who need help with their gross motor skills. i made this using mayer-johnson's boardmaker program-- which provides thousands of pecs (picture exchange communication system) which i included for our students who cannot read.

this routine is poster-sized and hanging in our leisure area for easy viewing; these exercises are also used during occupational therapy sessions.

what time is it? task

this task consists of several laminated clock worksheets-- all blank. using a dry-erase marker, we can change the hands on the clock to display different analog times. students use a dry-erase marker to write the digital time. because of the lamination, answers can easily be erased before giving the task to another student.

magazine matching task

this is a basic skills task which requires the student to find the missing piece to a series of halves. the loose halves are stored in the folder and will be connected to it's match with a velcro strip.
i used magazine advertisements to create this task; there are 25 ads, all cut with various division lines.

the assignment

as an education major, i have been assigned, in my technology in education class, to create a blog. while working on my portfolio for school, i decided to post the tasks and supports i create at work and post them on here for organized and easy access.

i work at elwyn's davidson school, located in west chester, pennsylvania. elwyn is a school for the mentally and physically handicapped and disabled, with several campuses around the country. here in west chester, we work with students on the autism spectrum, ages 16-21.
